The president called the meeting to order with 9 members present.

The newsreporter read her notes of the last meeting.

The treasurer’s report was given. Fifty-six members have renewed their membership for the 2005 - 2006 year. There were several bills that needed to be paid. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried. A tentative year-end report was presented to the members. The insurance bill on the contents of the Genealogy Room has not been received yet. It is due on the fifteenth of December. A final report will be given at the next meeting.

It was mentioned about the research done in the Genealogy Room and if we needed to revise the membership form to include the name and e-mail address of the new Spencer County Historian. It was decided to change the form.

It was discussed about giving the Genealogy Room librarian a Christmas bonus. A motion was made and seconded to give the bonus. Motion carried.

A "Thank You" note was read from Lincoln Amphitheater. This was their last year for a performance.

Several organizations had written wanting a donation. It was decided not to send any donations at this time.

The president mentioned the digital pictures that had been taken of Boner Bridge for Dr. James Cooper. A member is going to make a copy of the CD so the society will have a copy for their files.

A member had some plans that the Tourism Group of Scenic Byways (Highway 66), consisting of the counties of Perry, Spencer, Warrick, and Vanderburgh, had developed that showed the placement of kiosks to be placed along the route. Apparently the people from Perry and Spencer Counties that had attended a meeting where the kiosks were discussed had not been consulted about the information and the placement of the proposed kiosks. The information that was to be on the kiosks was not always appropriate to the location where it was to be placed. The cost of each kiosk is to be $5,000.00 with a state group paying $4,000.00 and the county or some group coming up with the additional $1,000.00. Several members were going to talk to other organizations about getting the kiosks placed.

As it now stands, former Governor Edgar Whitcomb will be the guest speaker at the Historian of the Year Banquet to be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Spencer County Community Center in Chrisney.

A member is going to be meeting with Perry County about more work on the Huffman Bridge.

It was mentioned that according to the South Spencer County School Board minutes, they had given approval of the Eagle Scout project. The scout has not contacted the Society about any further plans for the cemetery.

Some of the Society members met former Christian church members on Saturday, November 5 at 10:00 AM to tour the building. The president had received copies of the electric bills, which did not include water/sewage, insurance, etc. It was mentioned that several members had noticed termites in the foundation. After much discussion, a motion was made that due to finances and problems with the structure of the building that we decline the offer of taking the church even though the lease would be for $1.00. The motion was seconded. Motion carried.

It was discussed about meeting downstairs. This would allow people that wished to use the Genealogy Room for research to do so without interruption from our meeting.

The president read several communications that he had received.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.

There will be no meeting in January 2006.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 6:30 PM.
