The president called the meeting to order with 12 members present.

The reporter read her article that had been put in the local papers as the secretary was absent at the last meeting.

The treasurer's report was given.

The president had information about several genealogy seminars that were going to be held soon.

The president mentioned the possibility of visiting the John Hay Museum located in Salem, IN. John Hay was a personal secretary to Abraham Lincoln.

The president had several books that the Genealogy room wanted to purchase. After much discussion on the books, it was decided to vote on the purchase of the each book separately. It was voted to purchase two books. The purchase of the other two books was tabled until more information could be received about their contents.

A member was setting Monday, August 8, 2005, at 10:00 AM as a tentative date for working on the Huffman Bridge. He had the needed supplies and was asking for volunteers to help. He wasn't sure if anyone from Perry County was going to be able to help.

A member asked about various places in Spencer County that honored Abraham Lincoln. He was wondering who was in charge of the Lincoln Pioneer Village and what was being done to preserve its history.

The slate of officers for the 2005-2006 year was discussed. A motion was made and seconded that the nominations be closed with the same slate of officers as the previous year. Motion carried. The officers are: President - Steve Sisley; Vice-president - Duane Walter; Secretary - Dixie Miller; and Treasurer - Patricia Dawson. Erma Purviance will be the newsreporter.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 7:00 PM.
