The president called the meeting to order with 7 members and one guest present.

Since the secretary was absent, the reporter read her article that had been put in the local papers.

The treasurer's report was given. There were several books that the genealogy librarian wanted the society to purchase. A member also wanted to order a book that has been mentioned in the Evansville Courier about LST 325 and other businesses that were in production during World War II. A motion was made and seconded to purchase the books. Motion carried.

The president had information about several genealogy seminars that were going to be held soon.

The president introduced Bill Phillips, a descendant of the McCoy and Tuley families, who lives in Santa Claus. He had been going through family papers and found several correspondences from Francis Van Natter, who had done research on Abraham Lincoln. He has records from Pigeon Switch, which was between Gentryville and Tennyson - closer to Gentryville. He said that according to family history that Abe dated Elizabeth Tuley who ended up marrying a Henderson [sic].

A member had mentioned that the County Auditor had made a disbursement from the County Commissioners for the work to be done on the Huffman Bridge. It was noted that quoted prices were based on what the supplies would cost at Wal-Mart. Apparently, the supplies will need to be purchased locally, so there may be a cost override on the supplies. He was going to get in contact with a person from Perry County to see if there would be the possibility of having Scouts help with the work with members of the Society helping to supervise. No specific date was set.

The member also mentioned that they were not going to work on Boner Bridge until next year. The president has a copy of the last report on the bridge.

A member asked what was going to be done with the old computer that was replaced in the Genealogy Room. A member mentioned that it was replaced because it was out-of-date. A motion was made and seconded to let the member have the computer. The motion carried.

A member thought he had found a way to get the old copies of the newspapers put on microfilm, but the papers have had too much of the edge cut off when they were bound and some of the words are missing.

There was a short discussion on officers for the 2005-2006 year. They will be elected at the next meeting.

The president mentioned a book that had been purchased by the Society that was in the main part of the library. He was going to see about having it moved to the Genealogy Room.

It had already been decided not to have a meeting in July.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:25 PM.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 7:00 PM..
