The president called the meeting to order at The Rockport Inn at 6:30 PM with 10 members and two guests present.

The minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer's report was given. A list of bills to be paid was given. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried.

A letter from the Lincoln Amphitheatre was read. The funding for the program has been cut by the State to $1.00. It was decided to do nothing at this time.

A "Thank You" letter was read from a family that had donated their family's genealogy to the Genealogy Room.

It was brought up about purchasing a book for the Genealogy Room. A motion was made and seconded to buy the book. Motion carried.

The president had checked into having the 1879 Illustrated Atlas of Spencer County reprinted. The cost of reprinting was within our budget. It was decided to order 100 copies of the book. We also will have a price increase to be in effect when the book is delivered. The book will be $25 + $2 S&H.

A member mentioned the upcoming R.H.S. plaque dedication that will be held on April 2, 2005 at 10:00 AM at the Rockport Elementary.

A member mentioned the drive to raise money from Rockport alumni to reconstruct the missing column at the end of the sidewalk on Walnut Street. An interesting discussion followed about memories of Rockport High School when it was located on the campus where Rockport Elementary now stands.

A member had visited Huffman Bridge. He felt that, with a little paint and some steel wool, the graffiti could be covered or removed.

It is definite that Jim Cooper will be the speaker at our annual "Historian of the Year" banquet.

A member mentioned the idea of putting an ad in the local papers to tell what books are available for sale in the Genealogy Room. She would also like to have a display in the main area of the library.

Before the end of the meeting, the two guests had become new members. We always welcome newcomers to the society.

There was a short discussion about ordering the plaque and nameplate for the recipients of the Historian of the Year awards.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 7:00 PM.
